Résumé

The Feminization of Poverty How Traditional Gender Bias and Sexual Violence Keep Women in Poverty in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo) The author holds that in addition to the national wealth as factor in education and participation explaining the persistence of gender disparities in the DR Congo, in general, women in the DR Congo are obstructed by lots of traditional and patriarchal gender norms and sexual violence. The latter factors should not be overlooked when it comes to address women poverty in the DR Congo. A lot of traditional and patriarchal gender norms are biases that negatively influence women political participation in different spheres in society.
